To create the scenes shown below, all of the objects involved had to be modified to withstand an extremely harsh environment under several metres of water.
Furniture was strengthened, books were sealed, dyes were prevented from leaking, weights were added, and everything was made airtight to prevent an excessive amount of bubbles.
I worked with a team of people at Machine Shop Special Effects to prepare the items, and had the slightly sad job of filling the guitar with resin. At least I got to chuck it in a swimming pool to test it, which felt quite rock 'n' roll. Well, it was more of a large paddling pool than a swimming pool. The final shoot took place in a massive tank.
I also modified a turntable so that it could be operated underwater with pulleys and fishing line.
